Advisorships

Starting in 2017, LATI conducts one-on-one Advisorships to guide individuals' study, giving students a new way to access some of the worlds' most experienced taiko teachers. Students apply for advisorship and must show an understanding of the challenge and a commitment to practice.

Advisorship students gain access to the professional project-design and practice-tracking tools LATI teachers have developed and use themselves. From full-time study at the Institute with daily classes, to at-home composition with monthly check-ins, LATI Advisorships are a flexible way to intimately connect students to professional players to achieve their goals.

During an initial consultation, students share goals and initial plans, and the Advisor shows how LATI's available courses, drop-ins, workshops, private lessons, long-distance lessons, studio rental, and at-home individual practice might be of use. The student then creates a plan that serves as their application to the program. The Advisor helps polish the plan and then serves as ongoing, personal advisor for the length of the project.

Project details may change over the course of the project but Advisees must remain in close contact with Advisor or risk being dropped from the program.

The goal of LATI Advisorships is 100% success in achieving student goals!
