tsukeshime bachi (usually smaller diameter, softer "hou" wood)
nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, harder "kashi" wood)
earplugs

Class syllabus: 

overview
goal: better visualize ideal path of bachi
ideal path: question mark; result of total relaxation in hands/wrists (I think)
ideal strike: directional, more sound than smooth motions would suggest
importance: demo movements with weak strikes

one time through, KB YK observe for pointers
- non-dominant hand
