nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, harder "kashi" wood)

Aisatsu

Basics
Rolls
- relaxed, even roll
- both hands same volume
- Let the bachi bounce -- dribble it!
Big strike
- Elbow first, relaxed strike

Swing
Kuchishoga: dokko dokko dokko dokko R LR LR LR L
Various drills to try to internalize the swing feel
- Right hand consistent: 4 RH hits, 4 RL swing
- Hands continuously play sets of 4 dokkos: On drum, RH only (fake L), LH only (fake R), fake both

Copycat
4 beats swing Copycat
- Prepare our bodies to play (don't wait until the last minute!)
- Keep track of the pulse while you're listening

Students create a challenge pattern together
