Stanford Taiko Intensive next week!

Beginning Monday, Mar 24, Stanford Taiko will be at LATI for a week-long intensive! Yuta and I will be teaching naname, hachijo, odaiko, small drum, improvisation, timing, and selections from Eau de Squarepusher. The group has also reserved studio time at the facility for members' practice and for an intercollegiate taiko get-together. Mr Kato will give a presentation on drum making and Katsuji will lecture about Asano and Asano Taiko US. It's going to be an amazing week!

This Intensive is particularly special for me, having had my taiko start at Stanford. As a wide-eyed freshman during orientation week, I saw Stanford Taiko in a showcase of on-campus groups. It was the first time I'd seen taiko. Luckily my new college friend sitting next to me, Jon Bailey, was a drummer and suggested off-hand, "We should try that." I tried it, and was hooked.

More news to come... Stanford Taiko's Sarah Yamamoto will be guest blogging during the week.

Welcome, Stanford Taiko!
