Spotting Drill
Students face the font of the class, where the teacher is facing them. Next to the teacher, there are lists of words on the whiteboard (or piece of paper written in big letters so everyone can see). At the teacher's cue, do a quick but double spin (2x 360ยบ turns). In between the first and second spin, the teacher will point to one of the words on the board. The students try to read the word in the middle of the double spin, and say what the word is at the end.
The Goal: Spotting
As you start turning, keep your head facing forward, looking at the teacher. Once your body turns so you're looking at the teacher over your shoulder, quickly spin your head around to look over your other shoulder.

Vivian's Knocking Drill
(1) Back Knocks
-- Facing your partner, stick your right arm straight out toward them with your palm open and facing down. Your partner is in the same stance, but with the left arm (mirroring). With your left hand, slap your right hand (palm-to-palm). Leave your left arm where it is (straight and out), as your right hand circles behind you. The right hand completes its circle back in front of you by slapping the left hand (palm-to-palm). In the same velocity as your right hand, the left hand circles behind you as the right hand stops straight out in front. Repeat 8x (4 circles on each arm). Partner simultaneously does the same thing, but with the opposite arms.
(2) Front Knocks
-- On the last slap (your active left hand slapping your dormant right hand), the right still circles behind you, but stops when it is pointing straight up at the ceiling. The right then starts circling in the opposite direction (circling in font of you). With the same concept as the Back Knocks, the right hand slaps the left (palm-to-palm) and stops straight out. The left arm moves in the same velocity. Repeat 8x (4 circles on each arm). Partner simultaneously does the same thing, but with the opposite arms.
Things to Remember
- The arms are always straight
- Think of it as the transfer of energy: when the active hand slaps the dormant hand, it transfers all its energy and momentum to the dormant hand. Therefore, the dormant hand starts moving with the same velocity, as the former active hand stays completely still after the slap.
- Where the active hand slaps, that's where it stops.

Bar 11 Technique
- striking across drum with full body
- arm swings on either side

Bar 12 Techniques
- godogida (Maracas-esque)
- chidagi
