nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, harder "kashi" wood)
earplugs

Class syllabus:

prep
- student notes
- pens

welcome
- stretch: thoughts on performance
- introductions: Rassi on board!

DIY Karc!
- pick a 3~5 note rhythmic structure: gear 0
- find a slightly more complicated sticking variation: gear 1
- create another variation and assign it a number: gear n
- repeat and fill in the gaps to glue everything together

today's take-away idea
- repeating rhythm, increasing choreographic intensity / activity
- ideal "scope" for creation (in this case, fixed rhythm limits options)

possible choreographic exercises
- travelling farther between evenly-spaced hits (end of Cronkite)
- fuchi as excuse for arm swings (Murder)
- same rhythm, multiple stickings, arranged from simple to complex (Karc)
- gesture as inspiration (beginning of Cronkite)
- rhythm as inspiration (Tribeca)
- original / new idea
