The Odaiko Fundamentals Course will cover: 1. Fundamental Odaiko technique for dynamic form and solid sound, 2. Ensemble performance techniques for executing pieces in common contemporary taiko settings, and 3. Improvisational techniques for flexibility and musical expression. The course will culminate in a performance of “Agai Yatai” by Yoichi Watanabe.
Participants can expect to gain a solid understanding of essential Odaiko technique, as well as an exploration of common contemporary Odaiko performance styles.
