Class syllabus: 

Cold run of all the structures.

Work on the 5
- Start ji slow and work up to 160+ bpm
- Work on transitioning to "teke" when soloist speed is too fast for ji player
- Practice playing at 160 bpm to half time ji, speeding up and then back to half time
- Drill soloist slow down at end of structure. Various types of slowing down.
- Practice counting 32 ems while a soloist plays. Soloist will not play cue and student will count "ichi, ni, sore" on 31st em
- Run the structure

Work on the 10
- Set metronome to 15 bpm and practice clapping in between
- Sing M1 while clapping with metronome at 15 bpm
- Practice saying "ichi, ni, sore" during 2nd half of 12th em

Practice M1 and M2 over 4/3 ji

Homework: 

Practice getting up to 160 bpm playing "ten teke ten ten" while playing "lightly and groovy". Spend a significant amount of time at a tempo you are comfortable at and slowly speed up the metronome.

Set metronome to 15 bpm and clap in between. Watch out for rushing!

Become comfortable playing M1 and M2 over 4/3 ji.
