nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, harder "kashi" wood)

Class syllabus: 

Opening

16's Drill
- review and practice the essential elements
-- 0 inbetweens
-- 1 inbetween
-- 2 inbetween
-- 3 inbetween
-- 4 inbetween
- give individual feedback on grip and arm positions in particular
- do stumble-through

Grip and strike fundamentals review and feedback
- give individuals feedback on pointer/thumb as fulcrum
- give individuals feedback wrist position
- give individuals feedback on "dribbling" the bachi
-- bachi should start and end in up position
-- bachi should bounce, rather than be lifted
- explain and experiment with differences in bounciness

Gear 1 - Dribble with presses
-review concept and experiment
-push from center and moving out towards edge
--strength of push

introduce loud to soft strike technique
- "relaxed meat": stopping the bachi down without any extra tension
- work slowly through 1's section of 1eau
- teach and practice 1's section if time remains

Jam
- Tally Ho nagado groove (including cut-out)
- everyone try together, then individually
