Ka drill
- Focus on placement of ka in terms of sound quality and timing
- Practice playing very slowly
- Consider hand/body position to play more smoothly
Long Phrase
- Use concepts practiced during Ka drill
- Don't let tsuku become too loud
Chaos section
- Focus intently on timing of both tsu and ka
- Keep ka hits on the tip of the bachi -- brightest possible sound!
- Don't let tsuku become too loud
Solo section
- 4, 2, 2, 8, 4, 2, 2, 4, 8, 4, 4
- Practice jiuchi for accuracy and dynamics
Sequence
- Play from Oroshi section through end of Solo section
Homework:
Decide whether solo will be set or improvised -- and practice either way!
