Stance
Grip
- Hold with bottom two fingers, but keep all fingers wrapped around
Roll
- Focus on even strikes (R&L equal strength, same amount of space between each hit)
- Keep wrists relaxed
Basic Strike
- Relaxed strike
- Extend during drawbacks and strike from highest point
Oroshi
- Smooth, gradual transition between big basic strike and roll technique
- End together by playing LR
Tempo control
- Listen to shime jiuchi and match tempo whether it speeds up or slows down
4-8-16
- Kiai: comes from hara!, not shouting from our throat
- Think about timing during the exercise
Homework:
Think about (and practice!) 4-8-16 drill timing; number of hits doubles and adds in exactly between hits of previous line.
