Kaoru will introduce some hitting techniques utilized by many Kodo players that emphasizes balance and stability, relaxation, the shoulder blades as well as the concept of magaranai ude or the "unbendable arm".

Biography:
Kaoru Watanabe is one of the leading shinobue and taiko performers in the US and the only former Kodo performing member and artistic director living outside of Japan. He performers regularly across globe in a variety of musical settings and has taught courses on taiko at Princeton, Wesleyan and Dickinson Universities and Colby College, as well as out of his own studio in Brooklyn, NY.
