Student should bring: 

shime bachi (usually smaller diameter "ho" or "hinoki" bachi)
notepad and pencil
earplugs

Class syllabus: 

prep
- cameras: full shot, shime closeup
- lav mic
- center shime with various bachi
- semi-circle chairs at side with shime on stands
- print kuchishoga periodic table
- zoom as backup recorder

Welcome
- setup: in circle around shime
- cameras: wide, closeup on shime
- unique sound, name, and describe "getting lost in something" (an activity)

The importance of tone
- Octatrack samples
-- when tones are interesting, even simple rhythms are beautiful
-- our job, is to be the Octatrack. And we can be so much more powerful than the OT!

Capturing ideas: memorization vs notation
- the challenge of composition is not: having ideas. it's *capturing* ideas.
- repetition: the body as notation
- assignment in pairs: four tones each, alternating

"Composition" leads fundamentals, but...
- fulcrum
- grip
- using bounce
- doubles

Radiddlepa sticking
- sensitivity: making up for taiko's forgiving nature
- sticking with partner, counting
- designing the learning environment
