The Art and Study of Taiko with LATI (AKA Bonenkai)

@The Armstrong Theater in the Torrance Cultural Arts Center

Staff and students of Asano Taiko US and LATI (Los Angeles Taiko Institute) present contemporary and traditionally inspired taiko repertoire in their end-of-year recital. Music is interspersed with explanations of the roots and context of taiko, a demonstration of the "kuchishoga" aural teaching method, taiko making and commentary on the challenges of learning Japanese drums.

Odaiko WS with Isaku Kageyama

Participants will learn fundamental Odaiko techniques such as grip, stance, and stroke.
Focus on creating powerful, dynamic motion and producing a solid sound.

Yuta's New Classes and Free Trial Classes SET!

Yuta's new upcoming 12-week courses have been established!

Along with the Fundamental classes that are regularly offered, the new set of courses will focus on preparing students for the 2015 Bonenkai Recital that will be held at Armstrong Theater on December 21, 6:30-8:00pm.

We would like for ALL Students to be a part of this grand event, so sign up for the pieces/classes that suit you and your interests best!

(Kris will be offering a few classes dedicated to the Recital too, so stay tuned for that - Jack Bazaar!)

Want to learn some amazing Shishi-mai?! (traditional Lion Dance)

Kyosuke Suzuki, considered by many to be the best Shishi in Tokyo will be at Asano Taiko US to hold a 2-day intensive.

During his LA stay, he will also be holding introductory fue and taiko workshops that will eventually lead to music accompaniment to the Shishi-mai.
