My goal this year is to compose a solo piece for tsukeshime-daiko. While it's been one of my favorite instruments since I started playing taiko, I've never written a piece to showcase the instrument. That's going to change in 2014!
I commit to practicing an average of five hours per week to solidify the radiddlepa sticking and miscellaneous rhythms I've been practicing. I'll pull the mess of random ideas together into a proper piece by April or May. The new work will be debuted at the 10th Annual UK Taiko Festival on July 6. With any luck I'll have a score and a finished piece by the end of the year!
