goals: Review exercise from previous week and applying the "melting exercise" sensation to the "getting ready" position for odaiko stance
tai chi exercise
- understanding alignment, awareness of lower body, shoulder and neck position
- the practice of "letting go"
- alignment and sense of force has improvement
- next time is to focus on the direction of force - maintaining a sturdy center line
- lengthen the spine to lift the weight of upper body instead fo collapsing all the weight into the lower body
2 minutes roll
- right handed stance with fist grip
- right handed stance with shime grip
- focus on brining awareness to tension spots
- focus on initiating the motion from the core
Melting exercise
(with relaxation music from the meditation app called "Calm")
Practice walking toward the Odaiko and get into position
- Walking with intention and trust on your body
- simulate the "sinking in" sensation from the Melting Exercise
- utilize the space behind your body, bring the energy from around your whole body into the drum/ready position, and let it all sink in
- let yourself be grounded and sink into the stance, let the earth support you
