02 Alignment

nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, harder "kashi" wood)
earplugs

Class syllabus: 

Opening:
- Alignment, Balance, Fluidity
- name, pronouns
- "name one texture that brings you joy"

Warmup
- full body warmup
- dying cockroaches / shaking the water off

Alignment and Drumrolls
- apply the same concept of feeling the air/ki through your spine to build upper body awareness
- to feel the alignment of shoulder, arms, and lower body
- to feel the space around our body

Stance
- finding ease and flow in your body with the way you stand

Mochi exercise
Chu / large strike grip - fulcrum point in the bottom of the grip
Shime / small strike grip - fulcrum point in the top part of the grip
alternating between tsuku to drumrolls

light saber exercise
- purpose: posture awareness, and the concept of initiating from your core, and "letting go" of the arms
- notice the elbow joint has to relax / let the elbow drop
- notice some people tend to twist the wrist when extending the arm

Putting it all together and play in time - playing the basic kata drills to music
