Working in pairs and one person holding onto other person's bachi to use body to move. (During this exercise, Kris talked about Naomi's body is leaning more forward, and it sometimes helps to lean back as if you are playing beta style.)
Trying to control speeding up by a. slowing down at the otsuri and b. slowing down at the one.
Identifying what kind of jiuchi sounds good. Jiuchi with only the first beat emphasized sounds defiant, while the second (emphasis on the first and fourth hit) has more of a lead-in, like a beat for a dance. We practiced on the fuchi, edge and center and with Kris' solo.
Practicing switching with footwork for both person at the drum and person coming in. Exchanged solos at the end with switches.
