Spin Exercise
(1) 1/2 Spins
-- Chose a "lane" on the wooden floor. Place your feet perpendicular to the wooden panel and starting from one end of the room, do 1/2 spins until you reach the other side of the room. Try to keep your footing within the wooden "lane".
(2) Full Spins
-- Chose a "lane" on the wooden floor. Place your feet on top of to the wooden panel and starting from one end of the room, do full spins until you reach the other side of the room. Try to keep your footing within the wooden "lane". Your foot will always be in front of the other; like tightroping.
(3) Spin Golf
-- Using the color circles, drop 4~5 circles on the floor for groups of 2-3 students. Players place their feet on two circles as a starting point then spin to a new position. The next player must repeat the previous steps (like a mashup of Twister and Simon). Final player in the group adds the next spin and the cycle continues. Players have 3 tries to complete a pattern. When you make a mistake or cannot complete the pattern, you get a point. The player with the fewest points wins (like golf point system).
Call & Answer w/Music
REFERENCE VIDEO
For today's class, we practiced Bars 8 and 12
-- Pick a bar and split it into quarters. Have music playing in the background that has the beat/tempo you want to follow.
-- The leader "calls" and plays A (phrase one). The rest "answers" and repeats A. (4x) When the leader is ready to add on the next phrase, they make a "+" sign with their bachies and shows it to the followers while they repeat. It indicates the followers to listen and give the leader another 4 count to play the next phrase.
-- That leader builds on the phrase and plays AB (phrase one and two). The rest repeats. (4x)
-- The leader keeps building onto the phrase until they reach ABCD.
