Quitiplas in the Pocket - Week 1

Student should bring: 

nagado bachi (usually larger diameter, maple wood)
earplugs

Quitiplas [ki-ti-plah] in the Pocket - Week 1

Pronunciation and Brief Background of Quitiplas

Keith Terry's Rhythm Block from 0 to 9 with right and left alternation

Learning the basic Ji patterns with body percussions

Prima (6/8 or 2/4)
Cruzao (6/8 or 3/4)
Pujao (12/8 or 4/4)

Applying the Ji patterns on the drums:
- focus on the tonality, timbre and bachi control
- aim at creating a rich and round tone out of the drums
- using shime daiko grip (thumb and pointer as fulcrum point) for a better control of the bachi and a more precise rhythmic control
