-- 1300 meeting time
Practice time
- explore a way of transitioning Koneri into Naname
-- mochi mochi testing to see if an idea would work or not due to spacing around kine/number of people and taiko rhythms
- playing around with the idea of Koneri pounders call "Saigono Koneri" & " Ich Ni So Rei" lining up with chudaiko's 1eau2eau3eau4eau on the down beats
- Original 1eau...8eau 1
-- koneri continues for 3 pounds leaving on 6eau
-- bokine pound on the 1 & raise mochi/pounded rice. put down wait for other 3 bokine and count in to start naname
-- chudaiko play 1eau...8eau going from dark kas->light kas->edge of drum->Dons ending with a Don-oroshi on the 1 ends oroshi with ko-don into swing ji on bacchi clicks
- Critiques:
-- kaieshi is needed between end of koneri and naname to scrape rice together and flip it
-- rice would not be together enough to lift at the end with the bokine
-- if there is enough time for kine people to get bokine
-- could seem hectic if to short
- Suggestions:
-- ending koneri and having the kaieshi come in during a longer 1eau...[16eau or 32eau]
--- seems a little long for the rhythm 16eau seems like a good length but also suggested to have the ending not be fixed and line up ending with kine
-- having the bokine meet and enter all at once
--- possible but could take too long and rice might cool too much
-- extending koneri to mash rice to 80%
--- turned down because too long/ kind of defeats the point of having naname
-- keeping the ending similar but having a movement/flair motion at the end instead of raising rice up
--- not explored
-- More to explore/might have been more ideas but I cannot remember any more at the moment :T
- Conclusion
-- good idea that worked but needs to be explored/adapted to how koneri ends/how the rice is at the end of koneri ~50-60%
-- close and gave some direction/idea for a transition
Discussion/concerns at the end of practice
- what is considered the basic/simplest form/idea for each section and the transitions
- what is the vision/overall performance to look like
-- since the new members have joined there has not been a full run through since the Mochi pounding on 8/30
-- hard for newer members to see how everything flows together & how it runs
- request for more drum time
-- needing to do all on drums once in a while & try to notice when members are not ... (standing around not doing anything or...) being challenged during a current section
-- noticing when it would benefit everyone to learn the drum part to match with pounders/what to listen for while pounding
- frustration over trying new things that might be too complex when mochi mochi is trying to make a simpler version
- being able to get members confident in themselves and that they know the parts
-- need more performances possibly, but will come with time
-- also getting members to voice their opinions openly like Jen (which is great for group growth and group growing closer together)
